Darcy joined the staff at Free Horizon Montessori in 2016 as a UE Assistant Teacher. She grew up in Westminster and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.A. in English Education.
She has been passionately dedicated to education since she was in second grade, but her appreciation of a good story has kept her focus entirely on teaching language arts. She is currently working toward her Masters Degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education at Regis University, and shes licensed to teach K-12. Darcy has been a Lead Teacher in grades 4-12 in both traditional and Montessori schools for eight years, but lately shes been serving in various education support roles while she focuses her attention on raising her children. She is honored to join the Free Horizon community and looking forward to a stellar year in Upper El!
She and her husband, Doug, have been married forever, since the 1900s and they live in West Arvada. They are the proud parents of two boys who attended a wonderful Montessori school while the family resided in Tucson for many years. Darcys children continue to inspire and motivate her with their independence, perseverance, and creativity. Her son Aidan will be in 7th grade this year, and his little brother Loran will be in 5th grade. They provide a constant supply of laughter, surprises, and gray hair for their parents. Her family enjoys ATVing, boating, hiking, and gardening. In her spare time Darcy snuggles up with her family, including two spoiled dogs (Oliver and Daisy) and the cutest black and white cat in the world (Poppy), to watch from their patio as critters such as birds, bunnies, deer, and coyotes make their way about the neighborhood.
